The Pee-wee Herman Show is coming to LA for a limited engagement! It’s been almost two decades since we have seen Pee Wee on stage or TV or silver screen. Of course I already have tickets purchased. You’re jealous aren’t you bitches?

Move over Michael Stipe, the pictures you uploaded to guyswithiphones.com (NSFW) are sooooo three days ago. The latest celebrity to upload his picture to the site is Souljaboy Tellem. He originally posted this photo via Twitter to his twitpic page – only to remove it. Then it somehow made it’s way over to guyswithiphones.com where he is currently showing off the goods.
As the NSFW picture after the jump proves, Souljaboy is packing some serious heat!
Here are a couple of newsy-geeky tidbits for you:
First and foremost, the best news you have heard all summer is that it looks like The Big Bang Theory finally found it’s audience! The show’s reruns have been the surprise hit of the summer and pulling in big ratings every Monday night. Now all you nerds out there can finally breath a sigh of relief and relax; your show will be around for a while. Whew. Crisis averted.
The other bloggy item is that Tribbles are going to be infesting the San Diego Comic-Con. That’s right Paramount is giving out free Tribbles! I so want one! Never before have I desired to attend but there isn’t much I wouldn’t do for some cute and cuddle Tribbles. I swear I only want just one (or two hundred)!
Wowzers. From the looks of this maybe it should have been called the The T&A Show! I had no plans on watching The T.O. Show, but maybe I’ll change my mind. To be honest, I pay zero attention to sports and had NO IDEA who Terrell Owens was until he took off his clothes. Sex sells! I still prolly won’t watch, as a quick trip to the show’s official site confirmed it wasn’t about a former football player turned nudist. Damn.

Sure, they both have bangin’ bikini bodies and they both know how to piss off and alienate just about everyone they meet. Still, celebrities gravitate toward Sacha Baron Cohen while they often ostracize Kathy Griffin. It’s a strange dichotomy. Especially since Kathy’s been doing her act for a while now and it only recently occurred to me why she’s braver and bolder than Sacha can ever be.
With Bruno and Borat we get characters who humiliate Americans and celebrities world wide. Once the mask comes off, so to speak, and the joke is revealed, it’s all seen as good natured satire and genius art! Likewise Kathy also humiliates Americans and celebrities world wide but the key difference is she does it as herself. We can all tell exactly what both comedians think of their targets but one of them hides behind a facade while the other just lets it all hang out.
For this reason alone, Kathy Griffin is clearly superior when taken to task for shedding the spotlight on America’s ugly truths – even if Sacha steals the limelight. Long live the Queen — even if Bruno wants to steal the crown for himself.
When I went to a live taping of Rita Rocks, a comedy which airs on the Lifetime network, I got way more than I bargained for. I expected to see a live taping of a television show and what I actually got was a glorious evening with Allan. For those who have never had the pleasure, Allan is the warm-up ‘comedian’ who essentially wrangles the studio audience into submission during their spirit breaking and gluteus numbing four hour journey into television hell. I don’t think I ever appreciated the talent of an exceptionally funny stand-up comedian until I was unlucky enough to spend two hundred and forty minutes with a dreadfully bad one.
My opinion of Allan didn’t appear to be held by the majority. The others in the audience seemed to hoot and holler and immensely appreciate the time they were spending with him. They got free t-shirts and often stood up to individually to show off their own special talents. After watching a young British spectator fold her ears back I found myself longing for the sophistication of Barnum and Bailey. If I wanted to see a side show I would go to the circus. By the time Allan began prank calling people’s elderly grandmothers the whole event had devolved into chaos.
In between Allan’s performances, the cast and crew of Rita Rocks filled our time with the taping of a television show. They dutifully performed their scenes and the audience dutifully laughed when prompted. Basically, we were being used for the live laugh-track they were recording and were often encouraged to laugh at the same jokes over and over again. This was a task I detested, but again, I seemed to be in the minority on this. The rest of the studio audience seemed all too happy to generate fake laughter on command. They were incredibly eager to do their part to make art; the problem is, we weren’t being paid for our role in this production. Someone call AGVA (American Guild of Variety Artists) because I think we need a contract.
All told we spent about 40 minutes total with Rita and much more time with the warm-up comedian. To say the event was misrepresented would be a gross understatement. I suppose there is a reason Allan has the job he does and it’s clear he won’t be getting a one-man show anytime soon. Oh wait, he already has one, you can catch his live show Friday nights in Studio City on Stage 13. The tickets are free but the cost to your soul is incalculable.
The lovely and talented NewsRadio alum, Maura Tierney, has taken ill. For those of you who haven’t figured it out, there are little NR reference hidden all over the site — because I (heart) the show and all its cast members.
Reuters reports that “the production start [of Parenthood] has been postponed for eight weeks to late September ‘due to medical evaluation that (Tierney) is undergoing’”.
Yikes! I hope she’s okay! /me is sending all his good jujus her way!
